Amazon has not officially confirmed the Great Indian Festival 2026 dates yet. Estimates from deal-tracking sites range from late September to early October, with Prime members typically getting a day or two of early access before the public sale opens. SBI has been Amazon's consistent banking partner in past years and is expected again, but nothing is locked in until Amazon posts its own sale page. This guide will get updated the moment that happens, not before.

When does Great Indian Festival 2026 actually start

Nobody outside Amazon knows for certain yet. What's floating around right now: some trackers estimate a September 23 start with Prime early access from September 22, others estimate early October (around October 1-7), aligned with Flipkart's confirmed October 9 Big Billion Days so the two festive sales overlap the way they usually do. Until Amazon's own sale page goes live, treat every specific date you see (including the ones in this paragraph) as an estimate, not a fact.

Bank offers: what's typical, not yet what's confirmed

Amazon hasn't published 2026 bank offers. Going by past years, SBI (credit and debit cards) has been the most consistent partner, usually good for a 10% instant discount. Some sources are also naming Bank of Baroda this year. Both are plausible based on history, neither is official yet.

What to actually expect, category by category

Same caveat as with any big sale: "up to 90% off" headlines apply to a handful of listings, not to what most people are actually buying. Based on how past Great Indian Festival sales have played out:

• Smartphones: Typically Amazon's strongest category. Flagship iPhones and Galaxy phones tend to see meaningful cuts once bank offers and exchange bonuses stack, often in the same range as Flipkart's competing event that same week. If you're comparing, check both before buying.
• TVs and large appliances: Biggest advertised percentages, smallest gap between advertised and real price without bank-offer stacking. Worth checking the price history before trusting the crossed-out MRP.
• Laptops: Usually modest, real discounts, concentrated on outgoing models ahead of new launches.
• Fashion, beauty and home: Flat percentage-off deals are common and tend to track closer to the advertised number than electronics do.
• Amazon-specific extras: Amazon typically layers in Amazon Pay balance cashback and exchange offers on top of the headline discount, worth checking at checkout even if the sticker price alone looks unremarkable.

None of this is Amazon's official 2026 lineup. It's what past years looked like, useful for setting expectations, not a promise for this one.

Amazon vs Flipkart this festive season

Flipkart's Big Billion Days 2026 is confirmed for October 9 (Plus early access October 8). If Amazon's Great Indian Festival lands in the same window, as it usually does, the same products often get listed on both platforms with genuinely different prices. The habit worth building before either sale starts: wishlist what you want on both, then buy wherever it's actually cheaper that day, not wherever you happen to open first.

Before you buy: a few things worth doing now

• Track price history, not just the sale-day price. MRPs get inflated right before a "discount" is applied often enough that the sale price ends up close to, or barely under, what the item sold for a few weeks earlier.
• Wishlist early. Amazon often shows early sale pricing to wishlisted items before the public sale opens, which is the easiest way to catch a genuine drop.
• Check your bank offer's cap before checkout, not after. If it's capped at a fixed rupee amount, it usually matters more on one expensive item than spread thin across several cheaper ones.
