Pending vs Confirmed Cashback: What the Status Means and How Long Each Takes

If you've placed an order and your cashback shows "Pending" instead of a number you can withdraw, nothing has gone wrong — this is how every cashback platform works, everywhere, and it's tied directly to the store's own return policy, not to any delay on our end.

What "Pending" actually means

The moment a store reports your order back to us, cashback appears in your wallet as Pending, calculated on your order value. It's real and it's yours — it's just not withdrawable yet, because the store hasn't finalized the sale. Stores don't finalize a sale (and pay out the commission behind it) until their own return or cancellation window closes without you returning the item. Until then, the sale is provisional from an accounting standpoint, and so is the cashback tied to it.

What "Confirmed" means

Once the store's return window closes and they report the sale as final, your cashback flips to Confirmed — at that point it moves into your withdrawable wallet balance and can be paid out to UPI, bank transfer, or a gift card, whichever methods are available.

Why the wait exists — and why it varies by store

Every category has a different natural return-window length, and confirmation timing follows it fairly closely:

• Beauty & personal care — typically 45–65 days. Beauty products are returned less often once opened, so this is one of the faster categories.
• Finance products (cards, accounts, loans) — typically 60–90 days. There's no return window here in the retail sense — instead, the bank or lender is verifying the account or application stays open and active before paying the referral commission.
• Electronics — typically 60–90 days. Standard electronics return-window policies, plus (where relevant) processing time for exchange claims.
• Travel — typically 60–90+ days, sometimes longer. Some travel platforms don't finalize the commission until after the actual travel date has passed, since cancellations remain possible right up to departure.
• Fashion & sportswear — typically 75–106 days. The longest windows on the platform, driven by generous fashion return/exchange policies (30–90 day windows are common) plus processing time.

These are typical ranges based on real data across CashJosh's partner stores — the exact expected confirmation date for any specific order is always shown in your Wallet → Cashback tab, and the exact window for any store is listed on that store's own page.

What can turn Pending into Cancelled

Cashback reverses (moves to Cancelled) when the underlying sale doesn't hold up:

• The order is returned or exchanged (a partial return reduces cashback proportionally rather than voiding it entirely).
• The order is cancelled before it ships, by you or the store.
• Tracking was invalid — for example if an ad blocker interfered, or a coupon from outside CashJosh was applied at checkout (see our full troubleshooting checklist if this happens to you).

What to do if it's been way longer than the expected window

Confirmation windows are typical ranges, not fixed deadlines — batch processing on the store's side can occasionally push a specific order past the usual window. If your order is significantly past the expected confirmation date shown in your wallet, the right move is to raise a Missing Cashback Claim from the Claims tab with your order ID, date, and amount — we'll investigate directly with the store from there.

The short version

Pending = real cashback, waiting on the store's return window. Confirmed = the window closed, sale is final, cashback is withdrawable. The wait is normal, category-dependent, and visible with an actual expected date in your wallet the whole time.
